POLYURETHANE SCREED FLOORING is a heavy-duty, resin-based flooring system designed for industrial and commercial environments requiring durability, hygiene, and resistance to harsh conditions. It’s fast-curing, often serviceable within 72 hours, minimizing downtime. It is suitable for the food and beverage industry (e.g., bakeries, abattoirs, breweries), pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, manufacturing, warehousing, and healthcare sectors. It has exceptional durability and longevity. It is flexible, accommodating substrate movement and preventing cracking under temperature changes and it is food-safe and non-tainting, certified for use in HACCP environments. It is also low maintenance, with easy cleaning using standard chemicals or steam (at 9 mm).
Key Characteristics:
- Composition: Made from a polyurethane resin mixed with a hardener and aggregate (e.g., flint or silica), creating a robust, seamless surface. It’s typically applied at thicknesses of 3–15 mm, with 6–9 mm being common for heavy-duty applications.
- Durability: It’s rated among the most hard-wearing resin flooring options, with a lifespan up to 25 years. It resists abrasion, impact, and heavy traffic, including steel-wheeled vehicles.
- Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to chemicals like organic acids (e.g., lactic acid), alkalis, solvents, and fuels, making it ideal for food processing, chemical plants, and pharmaceutical facilities.
- Thermal Resistance: Can withstand extreme temperatures, including thermal shock, with some products resisting up to 130°C and suitable for freezer or oven areas.
- Hygiene: Seamless and non-porous, it’s easy to clean and can be steam-cleaned at 9 mm thickness, meeting stringent hygiene standards for food, beverage, and healthcare industries. Some systems include antimicrobial additives (e.g., silver ion technology).
